Benedetta Tagliabue was part of the jury for the inaugural edition of The Barragán Prize, alongside Marina Abramović, Pedro Reyes, Jürgen Mayer H., Raymund Ryan and Louise Trotter. The ceremony took place on 9 October at La Cuadra San Cristóbal in Mexico City, where Japanese architect Junya Ishigami received the award.
Inspired by the legacy of Luis Barragán, the new international prize recognises architects who challenge conventions and explore new ways of inhabiting the world. Ishigami’s work brings architecture and nature into close dialogue, reflecting a sensitivity to landscape, perception and spatial experience that resonates with Barragán’s legacy.
