The Acoustic Screens for the Redevelopment of Gran Via are designed to mitigate noise pollution and enhance urban quality along one of Barcelona’s most significant thoroughfares. These sculptural screens prevent the dispersion of sound waves towards residential buildings while reducing the visual and acoustic impact of traffic.

The design consists of modular sound-absorbing panels arranged in a rhythmic composition along the central corridor of Gran Via. The panels incorporate curved concave surfaces that optimize noise deflection while integrating materials such as Glass Reinforced Concrete (GRC) for durability and perforated surfaces for acoustic absorption. The screens feature embedded transparent sections that allow natural light to pass through, maintaining a connection between the urban space and its surroundings.

By integrating innovative acoustic solutions with an expressive architectural language, the project aims to redefine the experience of urban infrastructure, turning a functional necessity into an artistic intervention.
