The Vasco da Gama Platz is an elevated public square within the western HafenCity district of Hamburg that acts as a lively meeting point between two waterfront edges. The plaza spans approximately 2,720 mΒ² and is framed by a mix of apartments, offices, retail and restaurants.

The design accommodates the flood-resilient character of the quarter: despite its elevated position, the plaza connects to the lower promenades and allows visual and physical links to water. With seating for around 200, planted trees (amber, pear and oaks) and refined brick and paving materials, Vasco da Gama Platz embodies a human-scaled urban space that is both integrated into the large harbour infrastructure and oriented to everyday neighbourhood life.
