This month, Yale School of Architecture students, led by Benedetta Tagliabue and Can Vu Bui, traveled to Barcelona as part of their Advanced Studio on the design of Maggie’s Centers. The trip focused on understanding the intersection of design and care in cancer therapy environments, with students visiting EMBT’s recently completed Kálida Center, Barcelona’s first.

In addition to exploring the Kálida brief, students engaged with the city’s architectural heritage, visiting iconic works by Coderch, Bofill, Sert, and others. The trip concluded with a workshop at the Fundació Enric Miralles, further immersing students in Barcelona’s cultural and architectural context.
