Benedetta Tagliabue was chosen to serve on the jury for the Hainan Airlines Group Eco-Island competition, along with several other international leaders in architecture.

The competition calls for the design of the South Sea Pearl Eco-Island, which is located in Haikou Bay on the island of Hainan, China. Design firms from China, Europe, and the United States will create plans for an eco-tourism hub that will contain hotels, housing, tourist attractions, a port to accomadate two cruise ships, and much more. Winners will be selected in the last week of August, and the construction of the island is planned to begin in 2017, with its completion aimed for 2027.
