Benedetta Tagliabue participated in the UIA World Congress of Architects 2026 Barcelona, which brought together more than 10,000 participants and 250 speakers across over 100 sessions exploring the future of architecture.
During the Congress, Benedetta Tagliabue joined Emanuel Christ and Miquel Mariné for a session dedicated to the transformation of Barcelona through civic and public architecture.
The conversation examined how architecture can reshape the city through extensions, renovations and new infrastructures. The projects discussed included the MACBA and MNAC extensions, Santa Caterina Market, Kálida Sant Pau Centre and Artifact. Montjuïc Multifunctional Fairground.
The session explored how architecture can work with access, circulation, materiality and context to open institutions to the city and create more attentive, inclusive and connected public spaces.
