On this second edition of Arketipo, Benedetta Tagliabue as an Editor in Chief of the magazine, we explore a curated selection of ephemeral architecture projects from around the world.

They illustrate collectively the multifaceted nature of ephemeral architecture in contemporary practice, each showcasing their own distinct lines of research:

From responses to the natural environment, history, and vernacular architecture, to modular systems that facilitate construction, transport, and cost.

From locally sourced, recycled or reclaimed materials

to innovative materials that mechanically adjust to environmental conditions.

In our studio, ephemeral projects are tools for exploration and experimentation, allowing us to delve into architectural concepts and ideas on a 1:1 scale; as a mini-buildings or maxi-furniture.

Through the process of making collages, cut-outs, profiles, and shapes, we meticulously assemble pieces that can be stretched, rotated, or moved into different configurations.

This playful experimentation not only allows us to push the boundaries of our design, but often serve to inspire new leads or applications that can be translated across various scales of our work.
