The UFEC Votive Lamp (Unió de Federacions Esportives Catalanes), designed by architect Benedetta Tagliabue and her studio EMBT Architects, represents the unity of all sports.
It was created to commemorate the millennium of the Monastery of Montserrat as a tribute from Catalan sport to this sacred place, where spirituality and culture coexist.
The lamp is composed of three concentric rings, where sinuous silhouettes of people practicing different disciplines intertwine in a light, almost suspended structure that conveys brightness and balance.
From the UFEC symbol, spiral forms emerge, ascending from the base to the upper ring, which holds the emblems of the federations like a crown.
Enamelled leaves in red and yellow are combined with copper and brass elements, evoking the diversity and richness of Catalan sport.
This lamp will be one of the last to be installed inside the Abbey of Montserrat, and its contemporary design is conceived to harmonize with the existing traditional votive lamps.
