The Hainan Resort Hotel is conceived as a gateway to a theme park, integrating a hotel, theatre, SPA, apartments, and commercial spaces into a unified architectural ensemble that defines the entrance plaza of the park. The design is shaped by the dual character of the site: an open, festive northern plaza for events and a lush southern garden landscape dedicated to relaxation and leisure.
The hotel’s double orientation connects visitors to both the active park and the serene spa and garden side. Its transparent lobby façade acts as a visual link, offering views of tropical fish ponds and gardens, while also serving as a large screen for events.
The landscape design is inspired by the natural richness of Hainan Island, with elements such as hot springs, swimming pools, and iconic movie references integrated into the garden. SPA facilities and special rooms directly connected to private outdoor areas enhance the experience. The architectural envelope uses a perforated mesh skin that provides solar control and visual filtering, adding a dynamic layer to the building’s appearance.
