September 7, 2022

Congratulations to our head architect Benedetta Tagliabue, who received the ‘Médaille d’Architecture Fondation le Soufaché 1874’ during the ‘Prix et Récompenses 2022’ of the Academy of Architecture.

The Prizes and Awards of the Academy of Architecture were presented on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at the Academy of Architecture, Place des Vosges in Paris, in the presence of the Minister of Culture, Rima Abdul Malak. During the ceremony, 40 laureates, representative of the world of architecture, crafts and building, received a medal from the Academy of Architecture.

Each year, the Prizes and Awards honor professionals from the world of architecture, of academics and research, the young generation of architects just out of school, and the vast world of building. It is an opportunity for the Academy to distinguish those who make architecture, urban planning and their teaching shine.

The 2022 Gold Medal of the Academy of Architecture was awarded to the architect Dominique Coulon, who tirelessly seeks “the poetry of places and space”, through multiple readings that result in a remarkable work, deeply sensitive, characterized by a singular research as well as a meticulous sense of detail.

The Medal of Honor was awarded to the architect Patrick Rubin for his commitment to environmental concerns, which are now omnipresent.

This year, the jury, chaired by Christiane Schmuckle-Mollard, met to award twenty-two Architecture Prizes and ten Building and Craft Prizes. Three prizes were awarded to four young architects or urban planners identified for the quality of their final projects.

On the occasion of the presentation of the Prizes and Awards, the Academy would like to warmly thank the sponsoring companies that have given it their trust and support: the Ministry of Culture, the MAF and the Ordre des Architectes.
