We are delighted to announce that on 10 June 2022, our head architect Benedetta Tagliabue was appointed ‘Membro Ordinario’ of the ‘Pontificia Accademia di Belle Arti e Lettere dei Virtuosi al Pantheon’. Benedetta has been conferred the title of ‘Accademico Virtuoso’ for the Architects class, among other high-profile names who were nominated by Pope Francis for their professional merits. 

The nominees for the ‘sezione dei Membri Ordinari’ included: Sidival Fila, Matteo Garrone and Gianfranco Rosi, for the Class of Painters and Filmmakers; Cristiana Perrella, for the Class of Art Lovers and Musicians; Elisabetta Sgarbi, for the Class of Writers and Poets. For the ‘sezionde degli Accademici ad honorem’ the following have been chosen: Piero Boitani, Pierluigi Leone de Castris, Silvia Venturini Fendi, Paola Villani, Peter Zumthor.

Founded in 1542 under the vault of the Pantheon, the ‘Pontificia Accademia di Belle Arti e Lettere dei Virtuosi’ was the first association of artists in Rome authorized by Paul III. ‘Membri Ordinari’ are chosen from illustrious figures, national or international, who have particularly distinguished themselves within the five classes: Architects, Painters and Filmmakers, Sculptors, Musicians and Art Lovers, Writers and Poets.Â
